Word of the day: 9 That is why the Levites have no share or inheritance among their fellow Israelites; the Lord is their inheritance, as the Lord your God told them. Deuteronomy 10:9 NIV
You may get an inheritance from your parents or someone in your family. It may be money, jewelry, something valuable that your family member may want you to have. For some of us, it may make us feel good to have an inheritance. To be clear, I have gotten something, that is a separate story for another time. I can say that if you got robbed of an inheritance, I am sure it makes you feel not important. Like me, I have to look another way and maybe you should too. The good news is that God is our inheritance. Jesus paid the price for our sins; God blesses us every single day. Go back to time and think of all the good God has done for you. Think about the times you struggled to get passed a situation you couldn’t get through, but God stuck it out with you and got you through it. These are all inheritances from the Lord. Remember Deuteronomy 11:18-19 as the legacy. “18 “You shall, therefore, lay up these words of mine in your heart and your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 19 You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” You may not feel important; God leaves us all with inheritances. Life with him and an experience to remember.
Father, thank you for today. Thank you for your love. Thank you for the gifts you leave us. I pray today that some of us do not feel important. It is not necessary to feel beat up about what someone has done to the inheritance that was left for someone, but remembers that you are the inheritance for us. Be with those that need that encouragement. I am one of them. Thank you for our fellowship today. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
