Word of the day: 5 “A newly married man must not be drafted into the army or be given any other official responsibilities. He must be free to spend one year at home, bringing happiness to the wife he has married. Deuteronomy 24:5 NLT
Humility will be the focal point of this devotion. Humility is a modest or low view of one’s importance, such as humbleness. This verse is a way to learn to show more respect to your spouse than yourself. I thought about myself being a single guy on how humility works. I can get up in the morning and know or figure out what makes me happy. Married couples would have to figure out how to make each other happy in creative ways. For that to work, married couples would have to be dedicated to each other and not let the outside world interfere with the marriage. A lot of time and commitment is needed. If you are planning a project, you are going to make sure that everything is in order. Some people will not tell others about their projects. You have to be able to plan and learn from the projects you do—the same thing with marriages. Nobody needs to know the issues of the relationship. You have to work out your relationship with your spouse to make it better. Noise and distractions from the outside can ruin it. Humility plays a significant role in doing this, thinking less of yourself and more of your spouse.
Father, thank you for our fellowship. I pray today for outside distractions. The focus of others is essential but in different situations. I pray for wisdom knowing the differences in these situations. One person wanting to know about another relationship verses that person not wanting to know about it and letting them work it out for themselves. Somebody on the street is asking for help. The attention to detail and wisdom. Thank you for your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
