The Bread

May 20, 2020

Word of the day: 32 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” John 6:32-33 NIV

Reflect: Think about the purpose of bread. Why is the bread of life? Take time to think about the food of life and the meaning behind it.

Discussion Board: I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the real bread from heaven. Jesus is talking to the crowd after feeding 5,000 people. His message is simple. Most of us have taken communion. Jesus is the bread, and juice is the blood of Jesus. We must be willing to obey and command after taking the last supper. Just like when we are dedicating time and effort to a diet, we must eat and do right to see results. When we take bread and blood, we must be spiritually shaped to do so.

Takeaway: Communion is essential because we need the blood of Jesus and the bread to make a life of the fruit of the spirit. He lives in us to be able to steer us in the right direction. We are led in the wrong direction when we don’t listen to the fruits that live in us. That is living in the flesh. What is your takeaway?

Prayer: Father, thank you for our fellowship. I pray for those of us that take communion to stay on top of being spiritually fit. Thank you for allowing us bread and the blood to provide a better life for us and that no matter what, this is the real way of heaven. Thank you for your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen!

My name is Darren. I started sharing devotions in June 2019. As one of the ministry leaders at my church. One reason why I started devotions is because of the lack of inspiration and motivation in our lives. It is hard to be encouraged with a lot of negativity going around. I invite you to be encouraged by the word of God. Our struggles can be personal, at the workplace, and the lack of community in our lives. When we go through hard times, we need the word of God. Please read them and be encouraged. I also started a podcast talking about racism and discrimination. Please take a moment to check that out as well. Afternoon Coffee Break with Darren Watts.
