Word of the day: 12 When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? John 13:12 ESV

Meditation: When you plant a seed in someone’s head, what do you expect?

Discussion Board: Why did Jesus wash the feet of his disciples? Jesus was planting a seed, setting an example for others to lead without him. Random acts of kindness come a long way. When you surround yourself with the right people, things change for you. For those that do right, it allows you to see others’ actions, and you can do right for others. Just as Jesus did with washing his disciples’ feet, this is a real example of planting a seed physically and mentally. You plant a seed in the ground, it will grow with the right nourishment such as water. Flowers may need some extra help, such as sunlight and moisture. Just like with Jesus setting the example, we need help by being with the right people. You can mix all the right ingredients with baking a cake or another dessert, and it looks great. However, it needs heat to eat. If you don’t give the dessert heat, it will not cook.

Takeaway: Do yourself a favor and be around positive and uplifting people to allow yourself to be a good leader and example to all. What are your takeaways?

Prayer: Father, thank you for today. I pray for the example we set for others. How do we look? What can we improve? Your way of loving is what starts us. Thank you for allowing us to be shining lights. Thank you for your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen!

My name is Darren. I started sharing devotions in June 2019. As one of the ministry leaders at my church. One reason why I started devotions is because of the lack of inspiration and motivation in our lives. It is hard to be encouraged with a lot of negativity going around. I invite you to be encouraged by the word of God. Our struggles can be personal, at the workplace, and the lack of community in our lives. When we go through hard times, we need the word of God. Please read them and be encouraged. I also started a podcast talking about racism and discrimination. Please take a moment to check that out as well. Afternoon Coffee Break with Darren Watts.
