Word of the day: 5 God guaranteed his covenant with me, spelled it out plainly, and kept every promised word. 2 Samuel 23:5 MSG

Meditation: How powerful is this verse? Take a moment and think about your house’s current condition. Is it in good shape for God?

Discussion Board: This verse is David’s last days; he was dying. David had the opportunity to celebrate his life. He chose not to. Instead, he focused on something that most people dying would not. That is faithfulness. Time was not on David’s side with everything going on. David had to remember that his covenant is with Jesus. David faithfully stayed with Christ, and now he gets to spend eternal life with him. The throne and God’s Kingdom is there forever. But for us to be apart of God’s Kingdom, we must faithfully abide by him. One thing God doesn’t like is idolizing other gods if we are doing that through money, sex, drugs, cars, fame, and worldly things that worship other gods.

Takeaway: God is a jealous god. Showing our faithfulness shows our love and passion for him. The thing to remember when we look back on life is essential things. David looked back at his devotion to God. What are your takeaways?

Prayer: Father, thank you for our fellowship. I pray we can always stay faithful. There is a lot more to life than the things we succeed. Our faithfulness and love towards you is what count. Someone can be fake to do your work. What is in the heart is what counts. I pray we can be honest and have a heart doing your missions. Thank you for your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen!

My name is Darren. I started sharing devotions in June 2019. As one of the ministry leaders at my church. One reason why I started devotions is because of the lack of inspiration and motivation in our lives. It is hard to be encouraged with a lot of negativity going around. I invite you to be encouraged by the word of God. Our struggles can be personal, at the workplace, and the lack of community in our lives. When we go through hard times, we need the word of God. Please read them and be encouraged. I also started a podcast talking about racism and discrimination. Please take a moment to check that out as well. Afternoon Coffee Break with Darren Watts.
