Love

Word of the day: 15 “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” John 21:15 ESV

Meditation: Take a moment and collect your thoughts on this verse. After Peter told Jesus he loves him, do you love Jesus?

Discussion Board: It is one thing to say you love Jesus; it’s another to back it up. Today, think about if you love Jesus. Not just love him because he has done a lot for you. The more significant root of how you love him. He died on the cross on rose from the dead on the third day. He died for our sins. He took the ultimate sacrifice for us. Will you do the same and love him and make sacrifices for him in your life? The story of Moses crossing the Red Sea. The Lord told Moses to lift his staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground (Exodus 14:16). The love of listening and obeying as Moses did. Do you love him so much that you can believe in anything Jesus tells you?

Takeaway: As most people believe they love Jesus, how much do you love him? Do you love him that you listen to and obey? Or do you love him but listen to yourself and do other things?

Prayer: Father, I ask you will help us understand the pure love for you. By our actions, are we proving loving you or misunderstanding? John 16:23 says: On that day, you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly, I tell you, my Father, will give you whatever you ask in my name (NIV). Give us the ability to hear from you. In Jesus’ name. Amen!

My name is Darren. I started sharing devotions in June 2019. As one of the ministry leaders at my church. One reason why I started devotions is because of the lack of inspiration and motivation in our lives. It is hard to be encouraged with a lot of negativity going around. I invite you to be encouraged by the word of God. Our struggles can be personal, at the workplace, and the lack of community in our lives. When we go through hard times, we need the word of God. Please read them and be encouraged. I also started a podcast talking about racism and discrimination. Please take a moment to check that out as well. Afternoon Coffee Break with Darren Watts.
