Hearing Voices

June 17, 2020

Word of the day: 7 Today, if you hear his voice, 8 do not harden your hearts. Psalm 95:7a-8b ESV

Meditation: Look around; you never know. You heard your name, but you thought it was somebody calling you. If that happens, pray to correct your response.

Discussion Board: I love mixing concrete as a kid. When mixing concrete, you have to keep stirring. Otherwise, it dry and get hard. Once your heart is hardening, it is hard to undo that. I wake up thinking my brother is calling my name, but he is not home, or he never called my name. That is the Lord calling on me to pay attention to his needs. That happened to me a lot more this year than in any previous years. Hearing things you usually don’t understand, do not ignore it. If you hear something you don’t hear on a daily occasion, listen to it.

Takeaway: Answer the voice by being quiet and meditating. Without that, you have no idea what God is calling you to do.

Prayer: Father, allow us not to be arrogant but be wise and knowing that you provide in all of our needs. When you call us, we should listen. Thank you for your grace, even when we don’t respond. In Jesus’ name. Amen!

My name is Darren. I started sharing devotions in June 2019. As one of the ministry leaders at my church. One reason why I started devotions is because of the lack of inspiration and motivation in our lives. It is hard to be encouraged with a lot of negativity going around. I invite you to be encouraged by the word of God. Our struggles can be personal, at the workplace, and the lack of community in our lives. When we go through hard times, we need the word of God. Please read them and be encouraged. I also started a podcast talking about racism and discrimination. Please take a moment to check that out as well. Afternoon Coffee Break with Darren Watts.
