Being and Doing
13-14 “Don’t look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires total attention.
-Matthew 7:13-14 The Message
The Narrow and Wide Gates
Verse 13: “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.
Verse 14: For the gate is narrow, the way is constricted, leading to life, and few find it.
Verses 13-14 studies: John talks about the gate that leads to eternal life in John 10:7-9 is called “narrow.” It doesn’t mean it is difficult to become a Christian, but that is the only way to live eternally with God, and only a few decide to walk that road. Believing in Jesus is the only way to heaven because he alone died for our sins and made us right before God. Living his way may not be popular, but it is true and right. Thank him for letting us have only one way.
Father, I personally learn of people close to me that do not understand that You are the only way into heaven. People pick and choose what they want to believe instead of reading the context of the way to heaven. I pray for those who mix up your Word to understand they got it all wrong. Let it start with me because I read your Word in context with study material and that I can be the teacher to correct their thought process. I pray if others see the same thing that I do, let them be the teacher with loving patience to restore their thought process. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
