The Traitor

17 On the first of the Days of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Where do you want us to prepare your Passover meal?”

18-19 He said, “Enter the city. Go up to a certain man and say, ‘The Teacher says, My time is near. I and my disciples plan to celebrate the Passover meal at your house.'” The disciples followed Jesus’ instructions to the letter and prepared the Passover meal.

-Matthew 26:17-19 The Message

The Passover with the Disciples

Verse 17: Now, on the first day of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Where will you have us prepare for you to eat the Passover?”

Verse 17 study: The Passover took place one night and at one meal. That lasted a week was the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which is part of the celebration. People removed all yeast from their homes in commemoration of their ancestors’ exodus from Egypt when they didn’t have the time to let the bread rise. Thousands of people poured from Jerusalem from all over the Roman empire for this week.

Verse 18: He said, “Go into the city to a certain man and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, My time is at hand. I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples.'”

Verse 19: And the disciples did as Jesus had directed them, and they prepared the Passover.

My name is Darren. I started sharing devotions in June 2019. As one of the ministry leaders at my church. One reason why I started devotions is because of the lack of inspiration and motivation in our lives. It is hard to be encouraged with a lot of negativity going around. I invite you to be encouraged by the word of God. Our struggles can be personal, at the workplace, and the lack of community in our lives. When we go through hard times, we need the word of God. Please read them and be encouraged. I also started a podcast talking about racism and discrimination. Please take a moment to check that out as well. Afternoon Coffee Break with Darren Watts.
