6 Guilt is banished through love and truth;
Fear-of-God deflects evil.
7 When God approves of your life,
even your enemies will end up shaking your hand.
8 Far better to be right and poor
than to be wrong and rich.
9 We plan the way we want to live,
but only God makes us able to live it.
It Pays to Take Life Seriously
10 A good leader motivates,
doesn’t mislead, doesn’t exploit.
6 By steadfast love and faithfulness, iniquity is atoned for,
and by the fear of the Lord, one turns away from evil.
7 When a man’s ways please the Lord,
he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 Better is a little with righteousness
than great revenues with injustice.
9 The heart of man plans his way,
but the Lord establishes his steps.
10 An oracle is on the lips of a king;
his mouth does not sin in judgment.
Verse 7 study: We want people to like us, and we will go to any lengths to get them to like us.
Side note: I recently did that and got hurt. Here is what God says about that.
God tells us to put our energy into him. Our efforts to be peacemakers will make us more attractive to those around us, even our enemies. Even if it doesn’t, we haven’t lost anything. We are still pleasing God, the only one who truly matters.
