11 God cares about honesty in the workplace;
your business is his business.
12 Good leaders abhor wrongdoing of all kinds;
sound leadership has a moral foundation.
13 Good leaders cultivate honest speech;
they love advisors who tell them the truth.
14 An intemperate leader wreaks havoc in lives;
you’re smart to stay clear of someone like that.
15 Good-tempered leaders invigorate lives;
they’re like spring rain and sunshine.
16 Get wisdom—it’s worth more than money;
choose insight over income every time.

11 A just balance and scales are the Lord’s;
all the weights in the bag are his work.
12 It is an abomination to kings to do evil,
for the throne is established by righteousness.
13 Righteous lips are the delight of a king,
and he loves him who speaks what is right.
14 A king’s wrath is a messenger of death,
and a wise man will appease it.
15 In the light of a king’s face, there is life,
and his favor is like the clouds that bring the spring rain.
16 How much better to get wisdom than gold!
To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
Verses 10-15 studies: In the biblical days, people in authority had great power, like the king. People in charge also understood the responsibility of holding on to the position’s wisdom.
Verse 11 study: Whatever business we may be in, buying or selling, making a product, or offering services, we know the difference between being honest and dishonest. To satisfy others, we may feel pressure to be dishonest to put ourselves in a better position for more profit. If we want to obey God, there can’t be any middle ground. God is demanding honesty in business transactions. Being honest and fair is not always easy, but it’s God’s demand. Ask him for wisdom and courage to be consistently honest and unbiased.
