Purging

April 7, 2020

Word of the day: 21You must purge the evil from among you. Deuteronomy 22:21a NIV

Purge is physically removing (something) completely. I’m sure everybody knows what it means, but it is always a good idea to read different definitions. I know people are purging their garage, bedrooms, closets, and basements. Doing this type of work is the physical side of it. You are taking the time to make room either for other things or to have the extra space. Have you thought about this from a spiritual standpoint? What can you purge from your life? It can be sexual sin, gossip, wrong crowds. What can you do to remove this? Read the word, meditate, get involved in community, accountability partner, prayer. It is a lot you can do with no excuses. The only explanations are the ones you make. The word purge is in many verses. For starters; Deuteronomy 21:21, 22:21, 22, 24. Will you start the process of purging things spiritually?

Father, thank you for today. During this time of social distancing, people are purging areas of their homes to observe space. There are things we can be doing spiritually to get rid of sins and hate. I pray today that people will have the courage to start the process with you. Thank you for our fellowship. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
